The U.S. National Straw Sculpting Competition in Mt. Morris, IL, is a free, outdoor event showcasing massive, hand-crafted straw sculptures from artists across the country, with public voting and photo-worthy displays from August 8–24.

Celebrate a decade of jaw-dropping creativity at the 10th U.S. National Straw Sculpting Competition—the only event of its kind in the country. Held outdoors on the Mt. Morris campus, this annual showcase transforms simple straw into larger-than-life works of art. Each sculpture is handcrafted by artists using tightly packed straw and an incredible amount of imagination.
Visitors are welcome to view the sculptures at any time during the event. The best part? You get to help decide the winner. Public voting runs August 15–24, with a People’s Choice Award announced at the close of the competition.
Bring your camera—these whimsical, awe-inspiring creations are made to be seen (and shared). People’s Choice voting runs from August 15 to 24, with the Awards Ceremony and Artist Meet-and-Greet happening on August 24 (time to be announced). And don’t miss StrawFest Day on August 23, a full day of live music and celebration (listed separately).
