Isle a la Cache Museum immerses visitors in local cultural heritage and natural history with interactive exhibits, educational programs, and trails along the Illinois River, highlighting early Native American and French colonial life.

Step into the 18th century at the Forest Preserve District of Will County’s Isle a la Cache Museum in Romeoville. Explore the fur trade era where French voyageurs and Potawatomi lives intertwined. Touch a beaver pelt, view birch bark canoes, step inside a wigwam, and see a live Blanding’s turtle. Outside, the Native Lifeways exhibit continues the story. The museum offers interactive exhibits, public and school programs, youth group activities, facility rentals, a gift shop, and free publications and trail maps—all bringing history to life in an engaging, hands-on experience.
