Museums
Where can you measure the speed of your fastball, put your hand in the center of a tornado, and write your name in Egyptian hieroglyphics?
Located in a historic post office in the heart of downtown Aurora, Illinois, SciTech Hands On Museum encourages visitors to delve into the concepts of science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM) in tangible ways. Children enjoy racing from exhibit to exhibit, but SciTech is a great destination for the whole family. All of the 200 exhibits are designed as mini experiments. Visitors are invited to "Read the sign, push the buttons, pull the levers, and see what science does!"
The general recommendation is to allow 2 hours for a visit to SciTech Hands On Museum. Regular hours are 10:00am to 5:00pm, Tuesday through Saturday. Admission is $10 per person, with discounts for guests under three, over 60, and members of the US Armed Services. The website, www.scitechmuseum.org, is a wealth of additional information.
