The Cherry Tree Inn Bed & Breakfast
344 Fremont St., Woodstock, IL 60098
Bed & Breakfast
The best bed and breakfasts offer a sense of familiarity that feels like home. At Cherry Tree Inn Bed and Breakfast, that sense of deja vu is expected since it's the place where Bill Murray woke up over, and over, and over in the movie Groundhog Day.
More than the site of a now-classic movie, however, this inn is a charming respite from hectic daily life. Proprietors Lori and George Miarecki purchased the 19th-century Victorian mansion in 2017 for its history and splendor. Each of the four rooms is decorated individually; one has a four-poster bed, another a soaking tub with jets. Guests are invited to take advantage of the whole house, from the cafe stocked with coffee, tea, and games in the front, to the living area and its cheery fireplace, to the wraparound porch overlooking the corner lot.
The breakfast alone is a reason to stay at this historic inn. The Miarecki's support local businesses, which means the coffee is from a local roaster and jams, eggs and hot sauces are from vendors at the Woodstock Farmers Market. Guests are welcome to sit at the island while Lori prepares their cherry chocolate scones or blueberry and cream cheese bread pudding. Its location is also a selling point. Located a five-minute walk from the historic Woodstock Square, Cherry Tree Inn is close enough to the action to be convenient and far enough away to feel like your own private getaway.
