The 69th Des Plaines River Canoe & Kayak Marathon is May 17. The 18.5-mile race runs from Libertyville to Cook County, with a 5.25-mile Minithon starting at Potawatomi Woods and finishing at the same location.

The course runs 18.5 miles along the upper Des Plaines River in northern Illinois. The race begins in Libertyville, Illinois and finishes in Cook County near Mount Prospect.
Added in 2014, the 5.25-mile Minithon concludes at the same finish line as the 18.5-mile marathon. The Minithon starts at Potawatomi Woods and ends in Cook County near Mount Prospect.
